James Trotter
Background
James is a Middle Tennessee native who has a lifelong love of working with leather craft. His interest in leather craft began with a chance opportunity to make small items while at Boy Scout camp 45 years ago and has grown into passion to design and create functional and enjoyable items. While James’s craft centers on the art of leather craft he continues to find new ways to improve construction and durability of the items he creates.
During his lifelong involvement with leather James had repaired tack for friends and family and explored many of the styles of leather art from the present and the past. While he has worked most of his life in the corporate world, James has spent many years turning his, once hobby, into a small business.
Currently James is involved with the Southeast Leather Guild, which meets in Nashville, where he often mentors others in various techniques of leathercraft. He has recently become an instructor at Willow Oak as well.
